HIGHLIGHTS:

Coaching - Six nationally ranked and award-winning college coaches from Dartmouth, Cornell, Stanford, and University of Rhode Island; the final two coaches are TBD.
Events - We are pleased to invite to the 2013 Neill Clinic world-renowned sailor Ken Read, who will be speaking at the final clinic banquet at CYC Monroe St Station located in the Chicago Loop on June 11th.  The sailors will also enjoy an evening at the Chicago Match Race Center to learn about the opportunities in match racing.
Venue - Beautiful venue at the Chicago Yacht Club station located at Belmont Harbor in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood, which opens out to the vast expanse of Lake Michigan.
Value - Incredible value: $500 total cost includes all coaching fees, boat charter (CYC’s 420s in excellent racing condition), housing, all meals, clinic gear, and transportation to and from the airport.

PROGRAM:

This racing clinic is for the country’s most accomplished junior 420 sailors who are working hard to elevate their racing skills to the next level.  This clinic is named for Tom Neill, who was an avid sailor and racer aboard his well known yacht Nitemare.  The program will consist of lectures and on-the-water drills including tactics, strategy, sail trim, boat speed, etc. Coaches utilize daily video footage, archival footage, chalk talks, land demos and on-the-water exercises. Nightly guest speakers, presentations, and Chicago site-seeing round out the experience by showing the sailors what other avenues of sailing are available to them and allow them to see a little of the amazing city of Chicago.

BOATS:

A C420 will be included in the sailor’s entry fees. Sailors are responsible for bring their own sails (Main, Jib, Spinnaker/pole) and bridle for this event, along with any personal sailing equipment.  Sailors may also choose to bring their own lines and sheets, if desired.

DETAILS  and LOGISTICS:

This clinic is for sailors who have not yet attended college and are at least 13 years of age. Sailors are responsible for their own transportation to/from the Chicago area, though airport shuttles are arranged by the club. All out of town sailors will be housed by local families.  Meals are included in the clinic fees.
